Job Description

Pieter-Jozef & Maria Schroeders are a family-owned farm operation in Exeter, Ontario. Our farm operates on a year-round basis, due to the combination of crops growing in season and year-round livestock production (poultry and hogs).

We are currently seeking to hire 2 General Farm workers/ Livestock

Benefit: 2 weeks annual vacation
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible
Location: 71387 Airport Line, Exeter, ON N0M 1S4 (Primary work location) but work is spread out in multiple locations
Details of this position:
• Monday to Saturday, with occasional Sundays as needed
• Permanent, Full time
• 40 hours a week Minimum
• $26.10/hour
• Housing available

Requirements of this position:

• Clean fields, pens, barns, storage bins and work areas by removing dirt, brush, waste, wood, stones and debris.
• Check animals regularly and reported signs of sickness or injury.
• Clean and disinfect barns, pens, and poultry houses to maintain a healthy environment.
• Handle and moved livestock safely during daily farm activities.
• Monitor the health and condition of animals.
• Determine tasks required in order to complete daily work activities.
• Prepare and provide bedding, feed and water to livestock.
• Assist with planting, growing, watering, and caring for crops.
• Keep track of feed supplies and reported inventory levels.
• Assist in treating animals for minor health issues and follow care plans.
• Remove weeds from fields, growing areas and farm yards.
• Apply fertilizers as required.
• Harvest crops and prepare them for storage or transport.
• Feed, water, and care for animals on a daily basis.
• Maintain records of farm production.
• Operate and perform basic maintenance on farm machinery and equipment.
• Assist with plowing, irrigating, cultivating, and harvesting crops.
• Follow farm safety and biosecurity procedures at all times.
• Record livestock growth, production, and performance information.
• Maintain quality control and production records.
• Clean animal housing areas, including barns, pastures and pens.
• Complete daily work records and activity logs.
• Identify signs of disease or health problems in crops, livestock, and poultry.
• Perform general farm labour and maintenance duties.
• Prepare simple daily progress reports.
• Monitor and adjusted water systems, ventilation, and temperatures in animal housing facilities.


What will you need?
• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
• 1 year to less than 2 years
• Work under pressure; Repetitive tasks;
• Handling heavy loads up to 50 pounds;
• Physically demanding;
• Hand-eye co-ordination; ability to distinguish between colours
• Standing for extended periods; Bending, crouching, kneeling
• Can work independently, long hours
• Attention to detail in a fast paced environment
